Q&A
Where are you from?
Fayetteville, North Carolina
How old are you?
31. (Don’t let the baby face fool you!)
Why photography?
For me the process of going out to capture images, interacting with people and my environment, and editing provided the creative outlet and stress relief that other activities didn’t. I’ve dabbled in photography my entire life but didn’t take it seriously as an art form until around the tail end of 2017. The whole process is quite beautiful.
Why Japan?
I fell in love with the language in college after taking a Japanese class on a whim. I decided to follow the rabbit hole down and studied abroad at a Japanese university, then moved back there to live immediately after graduation. It was at that time I taught English, passed the highest level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, and received my translator’s certification all while getting into photography during my time off. Something about the landscapes and the energy of the country speaks to me as a person, and my time there has given me some of the best memories of my life to date.
